Getting to Know indinero: September Spotlight on Bill Tyndall

If you haven’t had a chance to interact with Bill Tyndall, our director of business development, you probably don’t know what it feels like to meet the confidence after a really good haircut, the morale boost after a hail-mary touchdown, and the optimism of a three-day weekend all bottled into one human being.

Bill’s attitude and positivity make him a wonderful person to work with and be around. He always embodies indinero’s Entreocratic mindset*, whether it’s cultivating relationships with our startup accelerator partners, talking to entrepreneurs about achieving their business goals, or encouraging others around the office. Before you hear from Bill himself, here’s a message from Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships, Josh Scherman:

“Bill has been an incredible asset to the indinero team. He pioneered many of our partner efforts early on and is always willing to go above and beyond to help our clients. His background as a collegiate athlete clearly influences his team-first mentality and continues to show his desire to add value throughout the company. We are very excited that Bill is bringing indinero to NYC as he will no doubt bring a ton of enthusiasm and excellence to the NY tech community.”

But don’t take my word (or Josh’s) for it, read about our golden boy yourself!

Top of your bucket list: This is actually hard… Top two would be climbing the seven tallest mountains around the world and visiting the top 10 wine regions around the world.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
My friends call me an “old soul” so that is fairly open to interpretation. Personally, I would gauge this by days making me roughly 11,315 days old… Of course, give or take a few hundred days for losing count.

Biggest fear: Storm drains… If you have seen the movie It, you will know why.

What do you like best about working at indinero?
I believe that thinking outside of the box is a great way to cultivate strong personal growth and company culture. indinero embodies that through their “rethink the obvious”* mentality and it makes every day here exciting!

What do you think would make indinero better?
Office dog? I would recommend a frenchie.

You’re happiest when: I’m surrounded by my friends and family. Preferably on the golf course.

Your proudest achievement: Getting hired to join the indinero team from my room in Saint Petersburg, Russia while finishing up my language studies at the local university.

What’s your go-to for self development?
I try to read one to two books per month for self-development purposes.

Favorite song, movie, book, or comedian:
Song: “Live and Let Die” — Paul McCartney (I’m a huge James Bond fan)
Movie: Every James Bond movie ever made. Specifically Skyfall for Bond’s more humanistic traits.
Book: The Hard Thing about Hard Things — Ben Horowitz
Comedian: Jimmy Fallon

The top 3 highlights of your life:
1. Playing football for the Golden Bears (UC Berkeley)
2. Creating a program to allow student athletes to travel abroad
3. Helping to grow indinero to where it is today

If you could do it all over again, you would: I try to live with no regrets. That being said, I usually regret eating street food abroad.

Defining moment of your life: When I realized that the only person responsible for myself is me. For a while I found myself looking for reasons for why I would fail and dwelling on external factors. There were many moments in my life that made me realize that I should internalize failures in a constructive way and find creative solutions to continuously move forward.

If you could meet anyone (dead or alive), who who it be?
I would have loved to meet Teddy Roosevelt. After being shot in the chest while walking to give a speech in Milwaukee, Teddy was determined to continue as planned and deliver his speech to the world. His pride and passion for his job and responsibility to me are unmatched.

If you were to compete in the Olympic Karaoke Challenge, what song would you sing to get the gold?
Track 1) “Total Eclipse of the Heart”
Track 2) “Forever Young”
Track 3) “Baba O’Riley”
